Food Blog

Summer of 2020, while the world just started to get adapted to working from home, I decided to make the most of it by being productive. Blogging was one of the things I considered spending a chunk of my time on. My biggest takeaways from blogging were improvement in research work, finding channels to promote this blog and moving along this fast-paced social media industry and consumer culture. I also radically improved my writing and found tools to assist me in understanding what sells and what doesn’t.
01
Picking a niche
I knew that, to introduce my blog, I would have to pick a target audience and to do that, I had to pick a filtered niche. At first, I was quite hesitant as I felt that it maybe leaves little space for me to make my page colorful and could be quite restricting.
However, I settled on a niche that involved insights from academia as well as first-hand research. While the blog has a variety of recipes, I also explored various other elements that made up my niche.
02
#SupportSmallBusinesses
Instagram has made it easy for small businesses to grow, using UGC and connecting with consumers through comments and DMs for free. I took this as a chance to interact with small businesses and work on primary research methods such as interviews. This also helped me build connections with a lot of business owners over the past year.

Upcoming Trends
Another regular that I posted about were trends and articles that were based around consumer preferences. This helped me get to know more about, not just the F&B industry, but also how social media is dynamic and that you won’t be talked about unless you talk about what’s happening.

Experimenting with Video Editing
Video editing is a skill that is generally considered when stepping into the professional media world. I learned using applications that were readily available and create video content. After all, video content does much better than still images of plain text.
