The Karak
As part of my university creative project, I chose to work on a digital magazine concepted around small food businesses in the UAE, that are present on social media. Social media has developed in multiple ways over the past few years. It is now creating new opportunities for more than 30 million small businesses to connect with its target audience. My aim was to discover and develop a creative way to guide these small online food businesses to work towards that.
In my digital magazine, The Karak, I uncover three key findings: one, that there is a need to adapt to the shifts and growth on new video platforms such as TikTok; the requirement of setting beneficial tactics such as influencer marketing and finally, paying attention to various trends and branding elements such as the use of important hashtags. These requisites can all be categorized under one essential verdict, which is staying relevant to survive as a small business on social media.
#SUPPORTSMALLBIZ
If there is one change that has been consistent in the 21st century, it is the ever-growing ways of social media. Not only has social media bound communities into niches, but it has also allowed members to introduce new and better ideas and cultures .
The dynamics of social media has allowed businesses to access how engaging its method of communication is, and can prove to be useful when it comes to executing strategies that create more awareness. It has provided entrepreneurial support and opportunities to SME’s especially in the past two years, considering the pandemic.
