Exploring TikTok
TikTok was one of those apps that I, like most people, found silly but I still gave it a shot. With zero to 10 followers, I uploaded a video that reached more than a thousand accounts.
I discovered how TikTok’s algorithm worked after a few days and it’s safe to say it now takes up more than two hours of my day – not that it’s a waste; it’s been more productive and helpful because the platform encourages real time engagement, from which is an exemplar of the advancing times.

Growth
Considering the niche I have chosen to proceed with as well as the consistency I have followed throughout my time on TikTok, I have grown tremendously and have personally developed on potential that I wasn't aware I had.
Firstly, I learned how to create videos that deliver the message in a matter of seconds. I also took advantage of the various features available to users such as stitching videos and duetting content by other creators. Hopping on the bi-weekly trends was my favourite part nevertheless, my USP is reviewing eateries, trying out new not-so-talked-about recipes that did exceedingly well, and creating a supermarket finds series.
Connect & Learn
One of the most important things I have learned from TikTok is that both the users and the content creators rely on each other for the best user experience.
In my case, with the help on TikTok, I was able to connect with brands, users based on what they're in search of and a community that willingly exposes itself to me as a creator. Another crucial outcome from using this app is that the more you gage with your audience on a personal level and share your life with them, the more likely you are to gain traction on the same piece of content.
From a PR perspective this was a huge win-win situation as I had the opportunity to network and also build a community.

Instagram: Under Construction
An extension to my blog is the @sahersmiscellenous Instagram account. I considered it as my only means to get more traffic on the food blog. However, I made a discovery that people don’t care. Yes, that’s right, they will not take the initiative to read through globs of text.
Users are looking for quick, simple, and straightforward content. With the recent introduction to reels, Instagram’s version of TikTok as they like to call it, is doing expectedly well. Since that has taken off, I am now focusing on growing my follower base and reach thousands like I am on TikTok.
